PROGRAM NOTE
Allometric Preludes is a set of fourteen short pieces for solo piano: Preludes A and B, and Preludes 1–12. The concept of allometry refers to asymmetrical (as opposed to isometric) growth patterns seen frequently in plant and animal biology. Research on the potential applications of allometric principles to musical form was the focus of a three-week artist residency at Grand Canyon National Park in June 2012.
